Unlike the sower in Jesus' parable of the soils, I have to carefully planted my seeds and seedlings to bear fruit.  This year looks great, I think I'll be in for another fantastic harvest.  Here are the flowering blossoms.

Garden Blogging - Week 2

I am so grateful for my garden.  It's been a rough couple of weeks of unbloggable stuff at Smalltown church but my garden has helped sustain me through the anxiety.  On the first day of planting my anxiety got the best of me and I had to have a Garden of Gethsemane moment. I stopped what I was doing, sat on my garden box, put my head down and prayed.  A little later on a neighbor was jogged by and saw me. she asked if I was OK, I put up my head and said yes.  Then she asked when I last ate and drank, which I told her, then she said she was still concerned.  I told her that I was praying and she thought that was cool.  What a grace filled reminder that I am never alone.

Teh Garden blogging is back

My favoritest thing to do in the world is back.  I am so filled with joy that I can plant things in the ground and watch them take hold of the soil, grow roots and bloom.  It may not look like much now, but God willing I will have another healthy harvest. 

I love how my vegatable plants bear fruit.  I love watching my flowers bloom.  It makes me feel like I'm co-creating with God and that is medicine for my soul.

Vacation Update

The garden has been abundant this summer and we've given away more food than we've eaten.  Anytime someone comes over, they are required to leave with a bag full of vegatables.  Anytime I run into a neighbor, I give them food.  It's gotten so crazy that neighbors run away from me as I approach them with a bag of vegies.  (heh heh).

And so in our abundance, I've been learning a lot of new recipes.  I've made pesto, tomato sauce, swiss chard fried, baked and even in a quiche.  However the newest skill I've learned has to do with an interesting carrot I found in my garden.

Well being the techie I am and having the gift of a warped sense of humor, a trial version of photoshop and lots of time on my hands, I animated it!  Enjoy!

I was unable to edit the black stuff cuz the photoshop trial expired.  My beloved partner still can't believe that I spent so much time making this movie.  And thank you to Sandra Bullock for providing the eyes and mouth for my carrot.

Harvest of Plenty

A hot summer and plenty of tending gave forth an abundance in crops...and it's only the end of July.  I'm turning into one of those neighbors where I ask do you want this...do you want that....I can hardly keep up with the harvest.  Pretty soon I'll have to start leaving vegatables in neighbor's unlocked cars.

I had a couple of parishioners visit me the other day.  The wife noticed my pink flamingo and my garden gnome on my balcony.  I could tell that she was struggling to say something polite and so I said, "Yep, I know...I'm classy."  This made her giggle.

Monday Garden Blogging - things are blooming!

Things are growing well at the God_gurrlll gardens.  I've even starting harvesting my lettuce and herbs.  I've been rocking the fresh herb cooking.

These were the cucumber plants that were struggling a month ago.  The garden lady at teh Agway suggested that I fertilize them and like magic they revitalized!!!  I'm wondering if there might be a fertilizer that would revitalize churches.  There's certainly lots of manure to go round.  ahem.

Tomatoes are about to sprout.  I like how artistic this picture looks.  The stem in the foreground and the blossoms in soft focus in the back.

Lil' guy has taken to napping on top of the entertainment center.  He's telling me to stop taking his picture so he can some sleep.  This could be a picture for LOL cats don't you think.  Feel free to add a caption in comments.

Garden Blogging Update - First Day of Summer

Yeah!!!!  It is the first day of summer and the garden is doing great.  Hopefully it will keep up through the season.  We've had a hot spell in the last week and the garden loved it.  With daily watering, a bit of fertilizer and lots of love here is how my garden is growing thus far.The Cucumbers are struggling, I started them inside and when I planted them, they were "shocked by the outside environment, especially the heat wave.  I thought they were goners but then I fertilized them and they seemed to have revitalized. 

I am very pleased with the tomato plants.  A friend gave me six seedlings and I've added four of my own.  Hopefully this will yield a good crop. 

The lettuce should be ready to harvest in a week.  Yummy!
